Femme Fatale Cosmetics Labyrinth Collection Swatches & Review

I'm horrendously late with this one (thanks and welcome to Ally's two top teeth - they've been making her a stage 5 clinger lately!) but I couldn't be more excited to share Femme Fatale's Labyrinth themed collection with you! This movie has always been close to my heart, from watching it as a child to singing along with my best friend in our high school days to its resurgence through the power of the internet. Labyrinth themed cosmetics, cross stitch, artwork and more abound and now this nail polish collection - it's enough to make me pull this face!

Femme Fatale's creative interpretation instantly evokes memories of favourite scenes and their formulas are as standout as ever. Complex and utterly unique, I sometimes find their shades to be four coaters owing to the sheer bases needed to show all the glitter but these were all perfect in three. But don't worry, they're still as glitter-laden as ever, and really, nothing else would do for the Goblin King.

Of the nine shades in the collection, I have five to show you. They are available for presale from December 1st-5th (ending 9PM AEST) but these shades are not limited edition and will be back in several presales, as well as being made available with Femme Fatale's various stockists in 2018.

Swatch notes:
I do not use base coat for my swatches but I did use a top coat as these glitterbombs dry with a fair bit of texture. Everything was photographed using a three-point lighting set up under daylight bulbs.

Femme Fatale Cosmetics - 13 Hours, 3 coats + Essie Gel Setter

13 Hours ($13AUD) is described as 'a warm-toned brown-leaning-burgundy with subtle blue gleam, lots of silver holographic glitters and holographic accents'. This is a close second to As the World Falls Down for my favourite, it looks like really glittery leather (imagine this as a jacket - swoon!). The blue sheen shifts to pink at certain angles and all that sparkle is so captivating, it keeps me endlessly entertained. The formula gave me no trouble, perfectly opaque in three coats, almost opaque in two.

Poisoned Peach

Femme Fatale Cosmetics - Poisoned Peach, 3 coats + Essie Gel Setter

Poisoned Peach ($11.50AUD) is described as 'a coral orange with blue glow and holographic golden glitters.' If a poisoned peach looked this pretty I don't think I'd really begrudge it for poisoning me. That blue shimmer! The formula held true to form here, too.

Femme Fatale - As the World Falls Down, 3 coats + Essie Gel Setter

Probably my favourite song in the movie (the extended version of Underground is a close rival) and hands down my favourite from this collection, As the World Falls Down ($11.50AUD) is described as 'a delicate soft, soft pink with ethereal green glow and golden holographic glitters.' I find it hard to see the pink here, more of a fleshy beige, with the green sheen giving it an ochre appearance overall. It was fully opaque in three coats and easy to work with.

Femme Fatale Cosmetics - Faerie Bites, 3 coats + Essie Gel Setter

Faerie Bites ($13AUD) is described as 'a very light mauve with strong copper glow leans this shade rather warm. Within are iridescent red flakes and golden holographic glitters'. The perfect complex nude, far friendlier than the nasty faeries in this movie! Some visible nail line can still be seen peeking through at three coats but I quite like it this way. A fourth coat should put paid to that if it bothers you.

Femme Fatale Cosmetics - Helping Hands, 3 coats + Essie Gel Setter

Helping Hands ($13AUD) is described as 'a neutral blue with strong pink shimmer, red shifting to green iridescent glitter, holographic accents and fine black holographic glitters'. Gosh, I think the helping hands were just about the creepiest thing in this movie, although that may be reflective of my post-three-kids rampant need for personal space! I'm happy to say their nail polish interpretation and I get along much better, the pink shimmer giving Helping Hands enough of a blurple vibe to keep this blue-phobe happy. Three easy coats, a little bit of balding on some of my ridges but a ridge-filling basecoat would have put paid to that.

Conclusion

I didn't think I'd like these polishes as much as I ended up loving them from initial bottle shots, they definitely need to be seen in person to be fully appreciated. Sophie has done a great job evoking the colour scheme and magic of Labyrinth with this collection. Now for an accompanying eyeshadow collection, pretty please? 😀

Femme Fatale ships nail polish worldwide from femmefatalecosmetics.com.au; starting from $7 to the USA, $14.50 to Canada and $20 internationally. These will also be available from stockists in the new year.

Are you a Labyrinth fan? Which of these beauties is your favourite?
