MAC MONDAY | Glamourdaze - Innocence and Outrageously Fun Lipsticks Swatches & Review

Last time I posted about a MAC collection about 2012 I mentioned that the world hadn't ended that year, as prophesied, but I've been binge-watching Lost for the past few weeks and now I'm kind of like... but what if it did? What if I'm writing about these doomed lipsticks from a flash sideways timeline? Honestly, I'm still not sure about how I feel about the ending of that show and yes, I realise I'm seven years late with these musings but look, I have pretty lipsticks to distract you from my ramblings and the fact that it's Monday.

This pair comes from the 2012 Holiday collection, Glamour Daze, which, alongside its coordinating gift set counterpart, Divine Desire, was a pastiche of vintage-inspired hues and packaging, complete with quilted satin and leopard print gift sets and bags. It also marked the debut of the much loved and sought after Whisper of Gilt Extra Dimension Skinfinish. Predictably, my purchases from this collection were exclusively lip products - in addition to Innocence and Outrageously Fun lipsticks, I also have a couple of products from the Divine Desire Paramour Pink kit.

Formula Overview:
There was a good variation of lipstick finishes in this collection: Cremesheen, Frost, Glaze, and Amplifieds although alas, no Mattes! My picks from Glamour Daze are Innocence, a Frost, and Outrageously Fun, which is a Cremesheen. Both formulas typically have medium coverage, but where Cremesheens have quite a bit of slip and gloss, Frosts have a thinner and occasionally drier texture and they're very sparkly. I occasionally find Frosts drying but fortunately, this wasn't the case with Innocence. MAC lipsticks have a vanilla scent.

Innocence is described as a 'soft coral' and has a Frost finish. This is the first Frost finish lipstick from MAC I ever truly loved and I say that with all the reverence that this shade deserves. It's a quadruple-threat guaranteed to have me swooning: coral, gold shimmer, long-lasting and a non-drying formula. Innocence lasts five hours on me and applied fairly smoothly, although I think it'd be unforgiving if you struggle with flakey or dry lips.

Outrageously Fun is described as a 'mid-tone magenta violet' and has a Cremesheen finish. MAC went through a period of thrashing variations of this shade (see also: Daddy's Little Girl, Petals & Peacocks, Seductive Intent, Night Blooming, etc) which seems to have abated now but I still enjoy this colour immensely. The Cremesheen finish makes Outrageously Fun slightly less bold than its many, many sisters, though don't get me wrong, it's still unapologetically bright. It's creamy and applies smoothly with medium opacity and lasts six hours on me.

What I liked:
  • Even colour payoff
  • Lasted five-six hours on me
  • Non-drying
  • No feathering or migration
What I didn't like:
  • Innocence can grab at uneven texture
Start your hunt here:
Have you tried either of these shades?
