ColourPop haul

ColourPop's birthday coincides with mine in May each year which means tonnes of awesome promotions to splurge on with birthday money. It's safe to say that I got more than a little carried away this year! To be fair, what you see here was a bunch of smaller orders made over a few weeks and I haven't hauled like this in a long time - nor will I 'til my next birthday, probably! But oh, it was fun. And these beautiful babies fill me with so much inspiration! I've been flat tack with Noel's 6th birthday party preparations lately so I haven't done many looks with these yet but I have teamed up with Makeupper and CassandraMyee to have a bit of a swatch party and share our hauls with you all, so be sure to check out their posts too!

ColourPop Super Shock Shadows Swatches & Review

Okay, first let's talk Super Shock Shadows. These are the OG game changers, the product that 100% sold me on ColourPop. With their unique texture, strong colour payoff and awesome lasting power, they've cultivated a 'gotta catch 'em all' mentality in me that I don't regret in the slightest. ColourPop say these will last a year if kept tightly closed but I placed my first order back in March 2015 and those ones are still just as creamy as ever (for reference, I keep them shut in cool, dark drawers which probably doesn't hurt). I knocked out almost my entire wishlist over the course of these hauls as they had a 3 for $10 deal on all eyeshadows and pigments but their full price is still a very reasonable $5USD.

ColourPop Super Shock Shadows - Central Perk, Stereo, Shop, Kelp Me Swatches & Review

Left to right: Central Perk, Stereo, Shop, Kelp Me

I use ColourPop's mattes so often that Central Perk was a must! I'm not thrilled on first swatch as it seems on the patchy side but I'm hoping it'll perform better on the lids. Stereo has a darker base shade than I anticipated which makes me slightly gun-shy but I'm prepared to rise to the challenge! Shop is a nice, clean matte that will get good use. Kelp Me is actually a pressed pigment and not approved for the immediate eye area, though I may still give it a go (#rebel). If nothing else, it'll make a spectacular blush.

ColourPop Super Shock Shadows - Shameless, Bae, Girly, Tassel Swatches & Review

Left to right: Shameless, Bae, Girly, Tassel

Shameless and Bae are both shades I've eyed up for ages and dismissed as ones I won't wear, since I typically shy away from very dark bases, but I want to get outside of my comfort zone more often and they're SO DARN GORGEOUS that I decided to grab 'em anyway. Girly immediately reminds me of MAC Vanilla pigment, with a stronger pink sheen. It's going to be gorgeous as an inner corner. Tassel is a shade I can't believe my inner magpie skipped over for so long - look at that sparkle!!

ColourPop Super Shock Shadows - Mittens, Reversible, Acorn, Super Hard Core Swatches & Review

Left to right: Mittens, Reversible, Acorn, Super Hard Core

Here is where my inner neutral-whore won out! Reversible and Super Hard Core are from the Sand collection so I really wanted to try the pretty new limited edition things - sucker for marketing! Mittens and Acorn are permanent shades and again, Mittens is a 'buy-all-the-mattes' purchase, while Acorn was more of an 'I've got pretty much all the other CP neutrals, why not go balls-to-the-wall and complete the set'. As you may be able to tell, I was pretty giddy by this point.

ColourPop Super Shock Shadows - Ignition, Eye Candy, Tea Party, Steele Swatches & Review

Left to right: Ignition, Eye Candy, Tea Party, Steele

Finally, a few more limited edition lovelies I'd had my eye on: Ignition and Steele, from the Amanda Steele collaboration. I can't fathom why Steele hasn't garnered more attention! It's got the most amazing pink sheen and sparkle, like MAC Pink Opal pigment on steroids. If you've been contemplating picking it up, do it, DO IT NOW. Eye Candy and Tea Party are more from the permanent range that have been on my wishlist for a while. I think these four look so pretty all lined up together!

ColourPop Pressed Shadows Swatches & Review

My first big bundle of Pressed Shadows! I got the Milli shadow a while back but haven't tried it yet - whoops. I've been a little resistant to the whole Pressed Shadow range because, well, the Super Shocks are awesome and unique, while budget-friendly pressed eyeshadow ranges are a dime a dozen these days. The whole concept felt a bit ho-hum after the awesomeness of the Super Shocks. BUT Christel/Makeupper has been raving about these and she knows good eyeshadow when she sees it so I was happy to follow her recommendation, plus I can admit when I am wrong which is absolutely the case here.  These are gorgeous! I've used several shades already and I'm very impressed. They perform just as well, if not better than some of the high-end pressed shadows I own.

ColourPop Pressed Shadows - Slim Fit, Flower Boy, Centerfold, Sauvage Swatches & Review

Left to right: Slim Fit, Flower Boy, Centerfold, Sauvage

I really liked the look of the Blow Me Away palette, but it was more cost effective to buy the shades individually while the 3 for $10 promo was going, so that's what I wound up doing, for three out of four. I skipped Issues, which looks like a yellower version of Kennedy from the Peachy Keen Super Shock Quad. Slim Fit and Centerfold are both from the Blow Me Away palette, as is Take A Break, pictured below. Slim Fit and Centerfold aren't actually eye-safe, thanks to the neon pigments they contain, but Flower Boy, their mellower older brother, will scratch that itch nicely. Sauvage is one of a few duochromes in the range - you'll see some more below because I needed to buy all the duochromes, obviously. DUOCHROMES.

ColourPop Pressed Shadows - Take A Break, Time Out, Bouquet Toss Swatches & Review

Left to right: Take A Break, Time Out, Bouquet Toss

Look, okay, I know these three are very samey. But they're the similar but different kind of samey, okay? Take A Break and Time Out are both peach duochromes but Take A Break has a gold colour flip while Time Out flashes pink. Bouquet Toss is a straight up shimmer.

ColourPop Pressed Shadows - Sideline, Checkmate, Play By Play Swatches & Review

Left to right: Sideline, Checkmate, Play By Play

Again with the duochromes here - aren't Sideline and Play By Play gorgeous? Checkmate, meanwhile, fulfils my recent dubious need for a mint matte green eyeshadow. Do I know what I want to do with it yet? Nope. But I'm on a mint kick at the moment, so it had to happen.

ColourPop Gemini By Night Eyeshadow Palette Swatches & Review

I also picked up the Gemini By Night Palette, which is from the Sonya Esman collaboration. I'm not going to pretend like it's unique or essential to my collection (but then again, I'm admittedly long past the point of being able to justify any more makeup in my collection) but Moscow  Sunrise is the kind of copper that calls my name and I wanted to see how some of the matte pressed shadows performed. Which is flawlessly, by the way. I might switch out The Hidden Hills for something more suitable as an inner corner highlight on my complexion to make this palette more travel-friendly for me, which is super easy to do with this packaging.

ColourPop Super Shock Cheek - Drop of a Hat Swatches & Review

Back to my beloved Super Shock formula (I haven't tried any of the pressed cheek powders yet, have you?) with Drop of a Hat blush. This is from the Nectar collection and it's a brilliant coral with gold sheen. I've already worn this and predictably, I love it. You know me and corals, I always fall for their type.

ColourPop In A Twist Set Swatches & Review

The In A Twist Lippie To Go set is discontinued now but most of the colours contained within are still available, though not all in liner form. Nixed is currently on the chopping block, so if you like the look of that one, scoop it up quick! This is my second Lippie To Go set and I really want to love the format as it's such a clever idea but unfortunately, it does fall short as the products are really fragile. Like, seriously fragile - we're talking snap during application on multiple occasions fragility. Still, it's a nice way to pick up a lot of colours, especially if you're unlikely to finish a lipstick anytime soon (guilty).

ColourPop Get A Grip Lip Trio Swatches & Review

Another discontinued set! But this one is still available on the site and all the products are available individually too. This is the Get A Grip trio, which features Are N Be Ultra Matte Lip alongside a coordinating lip pencil and Lippie Stix. Party Foul is a gorgeous colour and I can't wait to wear it although I don't think it looks a whole heap like the Ultra Matte Lip version...

ColourPop Lippie Stix - Birdy, Scandy, Topless, Bootie Swatches & Review

Oh Lippie Stix, you're still the one for me! Not everyone loves the Lippie Stix but I ALWAYS WILL. They smell amazing, the endcaps are colour-coordinated, the slanted tip makes them easy to apply and I find them really comfortable and long-wearing. I picked up two more permanent shades from my wishlist this time, Scandy and Bootie, plus limited edition shade Birdy, which reminds me of Ace from the Sundays in Silverlake set at first swatch. ColourPop threw in Topless with one of my parcels that was quite late arriving which I was stoked with as it's a discontinued shade I've been ISO - thank you, ColourPop gods!

ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip - Chi, Fresh Cut, Clueless, The Twirl, Solow, Bumble, Kae, Creeper Swatches & Review

ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip - Chi, Fresh Cut, Clueless, The Twirl, Solow, Bumble, Kae, Creeper Swatches & Review

Left to right: Chi, Fresh Cut, Clueless, The Twirl, Solow, Bumble, Kae, Creeper

Next up for lips are all these Ultra Matte babies! I'm hoping the formula is consistently good for this selection as now and then you run into a dud (I'm looking at you, Love Bug, you beautiful, beautiful bastard) but when they're good, they're really good. Chi and Kae both come from the repromoted KaePop collection, Clueless, Solow, Bumble and Creeper are permanent while Fresh Cut and The Twirl are from the Pink and Nectar collections, respectively. Bumble is so hyped that I'm both nervous and excited to try it, while The Twirl jumps out at me straight away because it's so lovely and bright. Which do you like best?

ColourPop Ultra Satin Lip - Littlestitious, Likely, Strip, Chandelier, Jacquard, The Rabbit, London Fog, Prim Swatches & Review

ColourPop Ultra Satin Lip - Littlestitious, Likely, Strip, Chandelier, Jacquard, The Rabbit, London Fog, Prim Swatches & Review

Left to right: Littlestitious, Likely, Strip, Chandelier, Jacquard, The Rabbit, London Fog and Prim

The Ultra Satin Lips continue to be one of my favourite liquid creme lipstick formulas so I used the sale as an opportunity to knock plenty of permanent shades (Littlestitious, The Rabbit, London Fog and Prim) off my wishlist. Likely, StripChandelier and Jacquard are all from the limited edition Sand, Nectar and Pink collections. I'm especially excited for Jacquard, which I was on the fence over (even I sometimes query whether I need one more coral) as it's much more vibrant than I expected, in a good way. The shimmer in The Rabbit has me swooning - can we have more shimmery Ultra Satins please, ColourPop?? And how cute are the minis? They were a GWP, with five shades available, from memory.

ColourPop Ultra Blotted Lip - Zuma, Ultra Glossy Lip - Wolfie Swatches & Review

ColourPop Ultra Blotted Lip - Zuma, Ultra Glossy Lip - Wolfie Swatches & Review

My friend Laura is a huge fan of Wolfie Ultra Glossy Lip so it's been on my wishlist of things to try for ages. It's super pigmented and metallic in the way that Furry from the Holiday 2016 collection is (review here), and I had quite a lot of feathering with that one so I'm a little nervous about how Wolfie is going to perform. We'll see, though!
The Ultra Blotted Lip formula is completely new to me and I still haven't decided whether I'm into the look or not so I got one shade to try, warm brownish-nude Zuma. I haven't tried it yet but it looks promising on first swatch.

Have you tried any of these? Don't forget to check out Christel (Makeupper) and Cass (CassandraMyee)'s hauls too!
