I love rediscovering an old favourite. We're constantly inundated with new releases, new formulas, new limited edition packaging and the desire to try it all is overwhelming (and I'm certainly guilty of falling prey to it over and over again!). It's easy to forget what you already have but putting together MAC Monday posts has reminded me of quite a few products that I love and need to use more often, Sunset Beach Blush Ombre being one of them. Since digging it out again, I've been reaching for it often and wondering how I ever forgot about it!
This blush came out with the 2014 Proenza Schouler collection, the packaging for which was GORGEOUS - metallic rainbow oil slick-like ombre on everything. There were two Blush Ombres in the range, Sunset Beach (pictured) and Ocean City (coral orange ombre into beige).
Sunset Beach is described as a 'pink ombre into beige'. I'm not sure where this apparent beige is supposed to be because Sunset Beach is all about the pink. It's candyfloss and bubblegum perfection and I LOVE IT. Interestingly, this got a pretty rubbish review from Temptalia at the time of launch and it seems that batch inconsistencies meant some people received dry, near-unusable blushes, while others found it buttery, pigmented and easy to blend. Fortunately for me, my experience has been the latter and my Sunset Beach is a dream to work with. It lasts for ten hours on me, looking faded towards the end of wear. It's a shame that quality control let this blush down as if you stumble upon one from a good batch, you're onto a winner - but how are you to know which is the good batch?!
I'm wearing Sunset Beach with ColourPop Spoon highlighter in these pictures.
- Applies and blends easily
- Lasts ten hours on me
- Great colour payoff
- Batch inconsistencies mean some versions of this blush are rubbish and some are wonderful, with no way of telling which!
