This week we're looking at two of the lipsticks from MAC's Fall 2013 collection, Indulge. Lots of rich tones and neutrals made up this collection, with the occasional garnish of sparkle, and as per usual, I was primarily interested in the lipsticks!
Indulge was populated with quite the mix of finishes! There were five lipsticks in the collection: Smash Hit (sheer golden sparkle in a Dazzle finish), By Design (soft shimmery beige in a Frost finish), Just A Bite (Satin), Sweet Succulence (deep glossy plum in a Lustre finish) and Feed the Senses (Lustre).Lustres are a finish people tend to either love or hate. They can be drying and short-lived on the lips although I seem to have had pretty good luck with them and don't find many of them noticeably drying. Satins sit in between the glossy Amplifieds and Mattes in terms of sheen, have strong colour payoff and typically wear for a long time with minimal or no feathering. MAC lipsticks have a vanilla scent.
Feed the Senses
Feed the Senses is described as a 'mid-tone mauvey nude' with a Lustre finish. The mauve tint mutes my natural lip colour and makes it very different to the pink or peach based nudes I usually favour, I love it! Application is reasonably forgiving for a Lustre although I did experience some demarcation from pressing my lips together, and it wore for a decent amount of time - just under five hours without being drying. Feed the Senses made a return in the 2015 Holiday collection Enchanted Eve Eye & Face Palette/Cool, I hope MAC bring it back for good some day.
Just A Bite
Just A Bite is described as a 'mid-tone blue red' with a Satin finish. For all intents and purposes, it's another beautiful classic red from MAC, though Just A Bite has a certain juiciness to the finish. It performed pretty well, lasting just under six hours without being drying but I did experience minor feathering along my lower lip. It stained slightly, too.
- Great colour payoff
- Wear time was between five and six hours
- Smooth application
- Just A Bite feathered slightly
- Feed the Senses had some demarcation
