Looking at the collection info for Apres Chic, which launched in December 2012, I'm struggling to remember what I was even doing at the time and why it wasn't on my radar. I know I wasn't completely out of the MAC loop because I was trying to get my hands on the Marilyn Monroe collection, which had launched a few months prior. Huh. Isn't memory weird? I wish I'd paid attention when it launched as all five of the lipsticks are totally up my alley. Ah well - I tracked down these two, so the other three might yet pop up!
Random tidbit - Apres Chic was, I think, one of, if not the last Mineralize focussed collections to contain the regular lipstick formula before the launch of the Mineralize Rich lipsticks and Mineralize Glasses.
Two of my preferred MAC formulas are represented here: Cozy Up is a Matte, while Apres Chic is a Cremesheen. Mattes are strongly pigmented, smooth in texture and are usually non-drying, although Cozy Up broke the mold by being minimally drying. Cremesheens are semi-opaque, glossy and occasionally hydrating.
MAC lipsticks have a vanilla scent.
Cozy Up is described as a 'deep caramel' in a Matte finish. It's a warm peachy-caramel nude with excellent colour payoff. It reminds me of Kinda Sexy from the permanent range, with much less pink in it - the overall peachy vibe is there, though and I really like it. Cozy Up wore for five hours on me and was minimally drying.
Apres Chic is described as a 'pinky brick red' with a Cremesheen finish. It's kind of an unusual shade in that I struggle to describe the colour, yet it's very wearable - guess I'll leave the colour description to MAC on this one! It wore for four hours on me and wasn't drying.
- Great colour payoff
- Neither of them dried out my lips or feathered
- Wore for four to five hours
- Cozy Up was minimally drying
