I included this gorgeous Burt's Bees gift set in my recent lipstick lover's gift guide and thought it was about time I shared more about what's inside! The Delight Up Your Lips set (RRP $19.95-25NZD) comes in either pink or red and contains a lip crayon and a lip balm. The pink set has a pink grapefruit scented balm and Sedona Sand Lip Crayon, while the red set, which I'll be showing you today, has a pomegranate scented balm and Redwood Forest Lip Crayon. The Lip Crayons are usually $18NZD on their own while the lip balms are $8.95NZD, so buying them together in the set will save you between $1.95 and $7, plus you get a free makeup bag. Not too shabby!
Redwood Forest Lip Crayon
Burt's Bees Lip Crayons are packaged in twist-up, chubby pencil packaging with stripes of colour that match the lip colour inside. The clear cap is etched with a honeycomb design and stays in place pretty well, although I'd still be wary of chucking it loose in your handbag. The winding mechanism rises and retracts without any faults; always something I like to check as some of these twist up products are awful (or impossible) for winding back down again!
Redwood Forest is a warm reddish brown with a glossy finish and mostly opaque, even colour payoff. There's a degree of buildability and translucency which allows your natural lip colour to come through, a bit like MAC's Cremesheen lipstick formula. I find the Burt's Bees Lip Crayons really comfortable to wear and apply and the crayon format makes it easy to apply precisely. Redwood Forest lasted four hours on me and was lightly hydrating. The Lip Crayons have no added scent, all I can pick up are hints of the jojoba, shea and beeswax they contain.
Pomegranate Lip Balm
I'm not personally a fan of this particular scent but I do enjoy Burt's Bees lip balm formula, which is very nourishing and goes on smoothly. If you love pomegranate you'll definitely like this balm as the fragrance is pretty true to life!
Burt's Bees are available from selected pharmacies, department stores and health food shops in New Zealand. You can also find them on Amazon and Ebay.
