Pretty Serious Pantone Cremes - Use the Quartz, Lone Starr! and Can't Take The Sky Swatches & Review23:43
Provided for review
I'm really excited to share some lovely new cremes from Pretty Serious with you today, not least because they put a delightfully Pretty Serious spin on the Pantone 2016 colours of the year. This year the people at Pantone decided to break the mold and select two colours instead of their usual solo outing, landing on Rose Quartz and Serenity. So when bringing out their own Pantone matched, cremes, being pop culture buffs, Kaz and Ben at Pretty Serious chose to pay homage to the movie Space Balls and one of my favourite, sadly shortlived TV shows, Firefly.
Swatches are done without base coat or top coat unless otherwise noted and photographed under daylight bulbs.

Pretty Serious - Use the Quartz, Lone Starr!, 4 coats
My husband, who LOVES Spaceballs was caught in a rare humourless moment when I showed him this polish, obstinately pointing out that it's 'use the Schwartz', not Quartz, but then we couldn't have this wordplay goodness, could we, Michael?
I struggled a little with the formula on this one, which is not something I think I've ever said about a Pretty Serious polish before. It was sheer, needing four coats to even out, although you can still see a few bald patches where my nail ridges are more pronounced. My advice for this one would be to use a ridge filling base coat and to allow a generous amount of time between coats to prevent dragging. It wasn't thick on the nail, and it self leveled well, drying with a lovely glossy finish. Use the Quartz, Lone Starr! is very pretty and delicate, perfectly capturing the rose quartz hue.

Can't Take The Sky, 3 coats
Ahhhh, Firefly. You were ripped from us too soon. Can't Take the Sky is as smooth and buttery as Captain Malcolm Reynolds is cantankerous yet charming, which is to say, A LOT. I used three coats, but you could definitely get away with two thicker coats and a careful hand. It self levels perfectly, and check out that shine!
Pretty Serious polishes are $9.95AUD a piece. PS are based in Australia and are available on their website with international flat rate shipping (hell yeah!).
