Hey lovelies,

Last week I took Noel to the movies for the second time ever to see Cinderella! He really enjoyed it, though I think we probably should have tried for an earlier session - the 6:15 one we chose ran a bit too far past his bed time of 7:30 and he was pretty shattered by the end. I didn't have a lot of expectations going in but I have to say that I absolutely loved it, it was completely magical and I can't wait to see it again when it's out on DVD.
Having really enjoyed the film makes the MAC Cinderella collection that much more special to me now, so today let's take a look at the Beauty Powder in the collection, Mystery Princess.

Like the rest of this collection, the Beauty Powder is presented in glossy powder blue packaging with a violet duochrome. It matches Ella's dress in the movie! The compact is well made and contains a mirror, which always makes me happy. I really dislike when otherwise beautiful compacts skip the mirror. Finicky? Perhaps, but I like the convenience.

Swatched heavily (left) and sheered out (right) on bare skin under daylight bulbs

Mystery Princess is described by MAC as a 'pinky beige with silver shimmer' which I think is pretty spot on; the base colour compliments my skintone well though deeper skintones may find it appears ashy on them. The silver shimmer is prevalent in my arm swatch but a touch more subtle on my cheeks.
Usually when I do an arm swatch for a powder product I'll use my fingers to pick up and apply the product to my arm but Mystery Princess is very dry and stiff in the pan so I found that exceptionally difficult. In the end I used a brush so that I could accurately show you what it looks like. I'm just glad I bought this sight unseen (on the MAC site) because if I'd swatched this in store I'm sure I would have walked away.
To apply Mystery Princess I've been using a NARS Yachiyo Ebay dupe which I generally favour for highlighters. It works well for Mystery Princess' sheer but buildable formula - I swept it around my browbone, down the bridge of my nose, across my cupid's bow and then built it up more intensely on my cheeks, dipping the brush three or four times to get the glow that I wanted.
Because of the subtle finish, I felt Mystery Princess was forgiving of pores and it played nicely with my combo-oily skin too, lasting all day.
