Hey lovelies,

Today's limited edition lovely Summer Rose Beauty Powder originally hails from A Rose Romance back in 2009. It's one of two rose embossed powders in the collection - I used to have the other one, Blush of Youth, but found it a bit sheer, even for my complexion. I'm a sucker for a gimmicky embossed product though, so I couldn't help but pick Summer Rose up when it came up on Trade Me for a good price.

The packaging is your standard MAC black compact; it's what's inside that counts! Look at that beautiful rose imprint! Other companies have done rose blushes, including Milani and Etude House (see my review of one of their latest offerings here), so if you love the look but don't fancy the hunt for Summer Rose, they are easy enough to find :)

In Summer Rose's case (and Blush of Youth, from memory) the rose imprint seems to make it a bit harder than I'd like to pick up the colour. The texture is a little stiff and coupled with the inherent sheerness of the beauty powder formula, I found I had to keep picking more up with my brush to build up the colour. If you love this colour, I'd suggest trying to find it in the Liberty of London packaging, as it was released without any imprint in that collection and was reportedly easier to work with (although that can be harder to find, given the lovely packaging!).
Because it's a sheerer formula, Summer Rose is virtually impossible to overapply. It blends out beautifully, leaving a natural flush and the slight shimmer imparts a pretty glow. I get about 6 hours wear before it begins to fade.
