Missha Sheer Fluid Blusher #4 Vivid Coral - Swatches & Review

Hey lovelies,

Woohoo for clearing out the drafts folder! I've worn this beautiful blush from Missha many times since I purchased it, but I forgot to take notes on wear everytime. Derp! I finally remembered over the weekend so thought I'd better complete the review while it was still fresh :)

Missha released their very pretty Sheer Fluid Blusher line last year and I was immediately intrigued. When Noel and I roadtripped to Auckland late last year I visited the Missha store and swatched several of the shades which cemented the need to have one in my life! I ended up ordering from Roseroseshop because it's a bit cheaper than the Missha store prices in New Zealand.

 Applied straight from the pump

One thing I didn't like about the Sheer Fluid Blusher is that it always dispenses quite a bit more than I need, even if I press the pump very gently. The colour pay off is good, providing sheer, even colour so you can layer it quite a bit, but even so I'd be in danger of overdoing it if I tried to use one pump's worth in one application. This may not be such an issue for deeper complexions, but I find it a bit wasteful for my pale skin.

Spread out

Applied thickly, you can see that Vivid Coral is a light coral with gold shimmer. The shimmer is subtle though and is almost imperceptible when applied, so there's no need to fear disco ball cheeks. It really just gives a nice glow.

Sheered out

Vivid Coral is really easy to blend out due to its liquid, almost gel like texture. This is my first experience with a liquid blush since a Maybelline blush I had way back in the days of the Wet Shine Diamonds collection. I loooved it but I can't remember for the life of me what it was called. Feeling the need to try to hunt it down on Ebay now! Anyway, back to the Missha blush - it's easy to apply and blend, I just use my fingers, but recently ordered an ELF stippling brush and I'm looking forward to giving that a go for application too!
The lasting power on this is pretty good, it remained vibrant for around 6 hours before steadily fading. It had almost entirely disappeared after 11 hours.

What I liked:
  • Long wearing (almost entirely faded at 11 hours)
  • Great colour pay off
  • Easy to apply and blend (I just use my fingers)
What I didn't like:
  • Always dispenses a bit too much
Where to buy:
  • Roseroseshop
  • Ebay
  • Beautynetkorea
  • W2Beauty
Have you tried any of Missha's Sheer Fluid blushers?

A Fyrinnae A Day: Dragon's Blood Lip Lustre Swatches & Review

Hey lovelies,

Last Lip Lustre today! I'm eyeing up several more though. Better put some more fertilizer on my money tree first. Today I'll be showing you Dragon's Blood, a gorgeous deep red.

All of the Lip Lustres I bought are in the trial size, which is 1.5g and contains enough for a few applications. This is a great way to try a colour before committing to a full size tube, especially since you can't see this product in a store before purchasing (Fyrinnae is only sold through their website). I love that the applicator is still a regular sized doefoot one, so it's very easy to apply.

Next to that universal lippy standard measurement; a MAC lipstick!

Fyrinnae's description:

Dragon's Blood is a deep, rich, cool matte maroon-red, inspired by the vampy lipsticks of the 1920s. Can be applied as a lighter "berry stain" shade over balm.

L-R: 1952, Visual Kei, Ocelot, Queer Theory, Dragon's Blood, Winter Romance swatched on bare skin

A FOTD with Dragon's Blood - details to come on Sunday

I found the opacity of Dragon's Blood to be much more even than Winter Romance, Fyrinnae's other dark red shade. It was very easy to apply, but does need a lipliner and a concealed lipline to prevent feathering, on me anyway. I experienced significant feathering within an hour of application which worsened over time (many dark lippies feather on me though). All in all I got about four hours wear, after which the colour looked quite matte, faded and a bit messy from the feathering. It's such a glamorous rich colour that I don't mind the extra prep one bit, and touch ups are easy.

What I liked:
  • Fantastic colour pay off, good lasting power
  • Great price - 1.5ml trial size (shown here) is $2.00USD, full size tube is $7.00USD.
What I didn't like:
  • I experienced significant feathering.

A Fyrinnae A Day: Aye, Captain Swatches & Review

Gift with purchase

Hey lovelies,

Derp! I wrote up a whole big post about this last night and then blogger ate it instead of saving. I never really believed that could happen until it started happening recently. That must be how it gets you - waits til you trust it completely and then BAM!
Anyway, here's today's Fyrinnae, Aye, Captain. I've skipped a few days because there are only two more to go after this and I know the desire to place another order will only increase when this feature is done!

Aye, Captain was a free sample included in my order. I'm not sure how much the samples contain, perhaps half as much as the minis.

Fyrinnae's description:

Aye, Captain is a "glowing", complex chartreuse filled with varying hues of green and yellow. It's not pastel, but a semi-sheer sparkle shade much like Otherworld. Used over regular primer or blended over other shades, it is a great highlight or main color. But over a sticky base (or color base like black or white) it's a vibrant gleaming pop of color.

Swatched dry (left) and over Epoxy (right). Aye, Captain is sheer and sparkly when applied dry and needs a sticky base for opacity and for the larger shimmer to adhere. If you've ever tried MAC's Crush Metal pigments, the texture of Aye, Captain feels very similar, it's quite chunky and requires care during application. As it is, I still experienced fall out while paired with Epoxy and the fall out continued throughout the day. It is a stunningly sparkly shade but you kind of have to commit to glittery cheeks wearing this. It does still require a bit of building to be opaque even with the Epoxy too.

What I liked:
  • Beautiful, sparkly shade!
  • Great price - the eyeshadow minis are $2.25USD (containing 1/3 teaspoon - I purchased all minis), full size jars are $6.25USD.
What I didn't like:
  • Needs to be built up to opacity even over Epoxy
  • Fall out city!

LA Girl Luxury Creme Lipsticks - Promiscuous, Devoted, Love Letters, Infatuated and Inspiration Swatches & Review

Purchased by me

Hey lovelies,

Well, you knew from my last post about them that I was going back for more of these beauties, didn't you? :D I have five more shades of the LA Girl Luxury Creme lipsticks to show you today!

I reviewed the packaging in my post about the first 5 shades I picked up, but I'll repeat it here:

The lipsticks all have glossy black packaging and a clear cap so you can easily see the colour you're after. It reminds me of the Wet n Wild Megalast lippy packaging, which is reinforced by the same style lip bullet. There is a packaging flaw with these lipsticks - the name of them is printed on the sticker that remains on the cap, and there's nothing on the rest of the lipstick to identify the shade. This means if you have more than one of these lippies and you take the caps off, it's easy to get mixed up and forget which shade is which.

L-R: Promiscuous, Love Letters, Devoted, Infatuated and Inspiration swatched over bare skin

I'll say it right now so that you don't have to read it five times, the formula on these lipsticks is very consistent. I get between 4-6 hours wear, depending on the shade (lighter shades like Devoted tend to disappear quicker) and minimal feathering with Infatuated and Inspiration. I don't find this formula drying at all.

Promiscuous is a brown leaning red creme with a hint of translucency. It reminds me of Lime Crime Glamour 101, but Glamour 101 is one or two shades lighter and is less brown.

LA Girl Luxury Creme - Love Letters swatches & review

Love Letters is a vibrant orange with a hint of coral. It's super creamy and opaque, I can't say enough good things about it!

LA Girl Luxury Creme - Devoted swatches & review

Devoted is a glossy, mostly opaque natural pink. Shades like this go with just about everything, I really enjoy them.

Infatuated is a glossy tangerine. Like Devoted, this has a little translucency to it, but the colour is even and easy to apply.

LA Girl Luxury Creme - Inspiration swatches & review

Inspiration is an interesting reddy-purple kind of shade. I'm not actually sure what you'd call it - mulberry, perhaps? The formula on Inspiration is closest to Love Letters; incredibly opaque and creamy. This one feathers a little without lipliner.

LA Girl Luxury Creme - Inspiration swatches & review

What I liked:

  • All of the shades, whether totally opaque or slightly translucent, had great even colour.
  • All the shades had a smooth creamy texture which lasted well (4-6 colours). They aren't drying at all in my experience.
  • Ridiculously good price! (See 'Where to buy' below for prices)
  • Great shade range - check out my swatch masterpost to see what I mean (and I don't even have all of them!).

What I didn't like:

  • I experienced minor feathering after 2 hours with Soul Mate (but this is normal for me).
  • The name label being attached to the cap (not printed anywhere else on the lipstick) makes it easy to mix the shades up.

Hey lovelies,

This is a masterpost for my Jordana Lipsticks. I'll update it with further swatches as I work my way through my collection and potentially acquire more! You can find a link to my review of each product underneath each set of swatches if a review has been completed.

All of my swatches are done on bare, unlined lips and photographed in artificial lighting with daylight bulbs for colour accuracy. The colour descriptions given are the official ones from Jordana.

This post represents countless hours of work swatching, photographing and editing. Please respect my time and hard work by linking back to this post if you use any of my images.
