What rhymes with skittle?

Hey lovelies,

Yesterday I pulled out my tube of Lime Crime Rhyme to jazz up my usual neutral eye make up. I love wearing this stacked with black liner, I really need to get more of the Lime Crime liners! Their set is calling my name...

Index: Essie Sand Tropez, 3 coats with studs by Cult Nails
Middle: Australis Mates Rates, 2 coats stamped with China Glaze 2030 and image plate OB27
Ring and thumb: Color Club Kismet, 3 coats
Pinky: Australis Mates Rates, 2 coats

I decided to have a go at Chit Chat Nails style skittlette mani, with the intention of Kismet as the focus. I found it really hard to match other colours to Kismet though, and I wasn't entirely happy with how the look turned out. My stamping skills are waaaaay off! I had to double stamp the middle finger on my left hand because I messed it up them first time, it turned out a lot better on my right hand - but the nails on that hand are in a terrible state! Sigh. Surprisingly, my favourite nails are the index nails, I adore Sand Tropez! It's so gorgeous.

Hey lovelies,

LIPS
NYX Cabaret lipliner

I was having trouble choosing a lipstick, so decided to cheat and use Cabaret as a lip colour. Worked pretty well, if a bit drying! I wore my new slave bracelet for a bit but I think I need to wear it on my non-dominant hand (left). I'll try it again properly soon. Loving my new polka dot blouse too. Can't get enough of clothes shopping lately!
I had a bit of a dig through my old crafty things and found a pair of Xbox controller earrings I made aaaaages ago! I have another pair to give away, so if you want them, leave a comment below and one lucky winner will get them - NZ only due to shipping costs, sorry loves! I'll pick a winner at the end of the week. Don't forget to leave me your email address.

KB Shimmer - Watercolor, 3 coats

Seche Vite, 2 coats

On my nails I wore the stunning Watercolor by KB Shimmer, a very sweet gift from Annemarie at Gimikd Girl. Formula was really good, the opacity builds up quickly and the glitter distributes well - no dabbing required! I use two coats of Seche Vite for a glossy finish, Watercolor dries with some texture. Surprisingly it's still intact, given that more than one coat of Seche Vite usually causes polish to peel straightaway on me!

Last week's mail! (Late edition!)

Hey lovelies,

Last week I got so much mail that I didn't get time photograph it all before the week was up! I hope you'll enjoy a late edition of last week's mail :)

Whew, Monday was an epic day for mail! I received a group order from MUA which you can see Noel gleefully rummaging through above! It looks like a lot, but my share of the order was relatively small - Out There Plumping glosses in Pin Up Pink, Sienna and Shocking Pink, Bare lipstick, eyebrow pencils in Blonde & Brunette and Pistachio Ice Cream polish.
I also received some awesome moustache jewellery which I picked up super cheaply on Ebay. They are so silly :D
Finally I got a surprise nail mail parcel from my wonderful friend Vanessa. Isn't she the sweetest? She sent me Wet N Wild The Crown Is Mine, Chi Chi Social Climber, Wet N Wild The Gold and the Beautiful, Deborah Lippmann Constant Craving and Essie Sand Tropez.

On Wednesday I received a parcel from MUA via the awesome Shanin, who placed a separate group order. She got me the Undressed Too palette and Copper Glitter Quake polish. I've already used the Undressed Too palette a couple of times, I'm in love!
I also got a parcel of Nostalgic Nail Lacquers from the ever adorable Nicola from Leona Carolina (these group orders will be the death of me, but I love them!). I got The Princess, As If and Duckie. I've wanted Duckie FOREVER so I'm so excited to play with these!

On Thursday I got a jawdropping swap package from Grace over at Polish Armoire, isn't she the best? She found Daring Digits a bit too stinky so we did a polish swap and she sent me all these: Ice, Sea Dragon, Girl's Night Out, Love Dragon, Lilac, Sky Dragon, New Year, Fire Dragon and (not pictured) Blackberry Square. Grace also sent me lots of binder rings to organise my swatch sticks, I haven't finished yet but above you can see some of my holos. Seeing them organised makes me happy!
I also got China Glaze's Emerald Sparkle, another longtime lemming quashed :D

Lastly, on Friday I received a tonne more parcels - not pictured are the ones containing birthday presents for my sister, in case she reads my blog ;)
I got 100 more swatch sticks, royal blue flocking powder for velvet nails, a carriage necklace and a slave bracelet all via Ebay. I'll pop up a post featuring the slave bracelet tomorrow. I also got a pair of polka dot skinny jeans from Glassons - I'm not sure yet whether I like them on me! Still trying to figure out how to style them. They're also a little big, I was a size 12 for years but after having Noel I've lost weight and I'm a 10 or smaller. I bought a 10, but I possibly should have gone for an 8. It's all a bit weird buying smaller sizes when you're so used to always reaching for a medium or a 12 and being sure it would fit!
It was my first time ordering from the Glassons website, and it was super quick and easy. I really like that they ship for free in NZ too!

Color Club Halo Hues 2013 - Miss Bliss Swatches, Comparison & Review

Hey lovelies,

Today I have Miss Bliss from Color Club's 2013 Halo Hues collection to share with you. I apologise for the lateness of this post, it's been a busier week than anticipated!

First a little bit about the different packaging on the Halo Hues polishes: the caps are silver and look like brushed steel, but I think they are actually plastic. The silver caps make them look special, like the silver cap China Glazes in my collection.

Now, onto the swatches!

Full sunlight

Indirect sunlight

Shade (whoops, my nail patch is showing! *blush*)

Formula on Miss Bliss was very good, particularly for a holo. It was a little thicker than other holos I've used, but I do prefer a formula to err on the side of thickness - less messy cuticle flooding! I only needed two coats for opacity, which makes me think Miss Bliss will lend itself well to stamping. I'll have to bust out my Konad stuff and give it a go!

Extra for experts - a comparison with my only other pink holo!

For comparison purposes, I have Sally Hansen Nail Prisms Blush Rose Diamond. As you can see, Miss Bliss has a more purple tone to it.

I used 3 coats for the Sally Hansen, while Miss Bliss only needs two. Miss Bliss has the stronger holo out of the two. You can definitely justify owning them both!

I hope this was helpful :) Look out for more Halo Hues 2013 posts coming up soon!

Miss Bliss was kindly provided by Color Club NZ for my consideration. I was not asked to provide a review or paid to feature it. My opinions are my own.

Retrofuturistic Wonderland

Hey lovelies,

I hope you've had a wonderful weekend. I took the night off parenting on Friday and went to a party while Mike had Noel for the night. I was working prior to going to the party, so I opted for a rather restrained party outfit which was a little provocative at the same time - it felt good! The blouse I'm wearing is one I thrifted earlier in the week; it's sheer, so I wore it with a super pretty bra and a mustard yellow pencil skirt & heels.
I had a great time at the party for the brief time I remember being there - I'm a little embarassed to say I'm far too used to drinking light wines like moscato and Rosemount O, so a bottle of Lindaeur totally kicked my ass. I'll be sticking to the lighter options in the future!

I'm a little bit rock n roll

Purchased by me/Contains affiliate links

Hey lovelies,

I was feeling a bit rock n roll yesterday, so I took to my Webstock 2013 tshirt with a pair of dressmaking scissors, dug out some skull earrings and paired them with a pencil skirt and some towering black heels. It was fun letting my inner badass out to play! :p
Maybe she'll come out again tomorrow, I'm going to a party :o I never go to parties! I'm SO EXCITED.

A bit blurry, but you can see the mismatched earrings! Only one side has the wee crosses & chains.

On my nails I wore A England Saint George - just two buttery smooth coats. So close to being a one coater, I love this polish! Has anyone else noticed the A England holos (Dragon & Saint George anyway) smell like the Glitter Gal holos? It's quite a sweet scent, not unpleasant, just different to your usual nail polish smell. Not that you should go around sniffing nail polish or anything...

PS. I changed my polish swatches from portrait to landscape after consulting with my polish addict group on Facebook. What do you think?

I Moustache You A Question

Hey lovelies,

Just a quick post today, here's what I wore to work yesterday! My recent shopping spree on Ebay for accessories has me pulling out some of the things I already own in an effort to accessorize more. Mostly hairbows! I wore a pink one today to match my awesome new moustache necklace.
Before I left for work I said to Mike, "Look, it's you!" holding my necklace up. He replied "Is that all I am to you, a pink moustache?" Poor bud!

Unnamed Tarte nude gloss

Loving the Tarte gloss - I bought a large gift set of them ages ago on Trade Me and gifted many of them away, but this is one I kept because it filled a gap in my gloss collection. So pleased I did, it smooths out my lip colour and smells like cupcakes. NOM.

Nail of the day! Noel chose these polishes for me, I think he has excellent taste!
