Shopping My Stash!

Purchased by me/Contains affiliate links

Hey lovelies,

What a busy weekend we had. Lots of fun though. Back to the grindstone with work on Monday, but it feels good being efficient!

On Monday I swatched a bunch of polish on my new swatch sticks, and them right on top of our bookcase out of Noel's reach. Unfortunately I laid them over my stack of Sleek and Wet N Wild palettes, which made them a little inaccessible when it came time to do my make up and go to work. I took this as a sign however, and decided to shop my stash for today's look!

I have this idea of doing a series of posts shopping my massive stash of MAC eyeshadows and pressed pigments. I have several 28 pan and 15 pan palettes of them and they need more love than I give them. I just need to photograph the palettes for reference, and then I can get into it :) I'm quite excited!

I had trouble choosing FOTD pictures today. This is going to sound weird, but I thought I looked really mean in most of them! And I'm really not! Gosh I'm weird. Anyway, here's the product break down:

FACE
MAC Marine Life blush

EYES
MAC Museum Bronze pigment all over lids and on lower lash line
MAC Showstopper eyeshadow in crease
Lime Crime Cleopatra Magic Dust in centre of lid
MAC Pink Opal pigment as highlight

LIPS
ModelCo Sienna Sunset Liplights gloss

I really need to buy some more Duo lash glue. My tube is just about done after... 3 years, I think! Love that stuff. I tend to forget how awesome MAC pigments are, so it was fun playing with that again. Showstopper was a PITA, that shadow does NOT want to blend. Lime Crime Magic Dusts are now discontinued, but you might be able to find them at some e-tailers still.

Ooh, I almost forgot. I added tabs to the top of the blog, so now there's a link to my stash list! What else shall I include?

Sleek Palette Swatch Spam!

Purchased by me/Contains affiliate links

Hey lovelies,

Today I have some Sleek swatch spam (try saying that 5 times fast) for you! This post is dedicated to the super sweet Nicola (Leona Carolina's Closet), who I was discussing my love for Sleek palettes with the other day. I have four already, but have been lusting after several others on Sleek's site. I would really like to try their lipsticks and blushes too.

Anyway, without further ado, here are swatches of the palettes I have. I've excluded poor Storm, because it really is in no condition to be shown here thanks to my darling son. Additionally, he dropped it again so most of the shades aren't even there any more! RIP Storm. You will be replaced soon!

All swatches are on my bare arm, no primer, in natural light.

Really nice pigmentation across the board in a fun selection of colours. I did find the bronze shade (second from right on the bottom row) to be a bit gritty and prone to fall out, though. I've also used the teal, the greens and the shimmery pinks in full eye looks, and I've really enjoyed using them.

Sleek Oh So Special palette

I think it's fairly obvious which shades are my favourites here, haha! I love the gold shimmer in the lavender shade - on the lid it kind of takes over and you can't really tell it has a lavender base. That might be a con for some people, but purple doesn't flatter me so I quite like that. I also really like the brown and pink shimmers for everyday, and the matte dark brown works great in the crease or as a brow shade. The matte tan applies much better than it swatches, I have used that for a matte nude look quite often. I didn't expect to love the shimmery burgundy quite as much as I do - I've used it several times for smokey eyes, the burgundy really makes my green eyes come to life!

Sleek Au Naturel palette

I haven't used this one all that much yet, but I can say the matte shades apply a hell of a lot better than they swatch. You can barely see them on my arm! The tan shimmer in the first row is gorgeous, I really like it as a lid shade. The brown shimmer (third from right, bottom row) is a bit of a disappointment, it's sheer and difficult to build up, and gritty, so not an enjoyable shadow to use round the eyes! I quite like the khaki brown/green - perhaps a dirty gold? on the bottom row, I've used it as a lid shade a few times.

Thanks for looking and commenting!

This week's nail mail!

Purchased by me/Contains affiliate links

Hey lovelies,

This has been an exciting week for nail mail!

On Tuesday my TonyMolys from Ebay arrived. On the left is GI04 Halloween and on the right we have GI07 Heavy Brown. Heavy Brown reminds me of Lynnderella's Chocolotta Love, it's gorgeous! I can't wait to get more of these polishes, Wonder Purple is next on my list. I got mine from this seller.

On Wednesday my A England order arrived! These are my first A Englands and I'm so excited to try them out. St George & Dragon (left & right) have been on my wishlist for yonks, and I've loved Tess D'Ubervilles  (centre) since I first saw it.

I also got 250 swatch sticks on Wednesday! I have been happily swatching all week. Now I just need to order another couple of hundred...

On Thursday, I got my Pahlish order. I got Still Alive (left) and Great Wide Open (right). Great Wide Open is discontinued, so I didn't want to miss out!

Noel ran away with my bottle of Still Alive!

Thursday brought me a package from the lovely Nicola! She was sweet enough to order Lush Lacquer Halloweenie and Girly Bits Monster Mash on my behalf while placing a Llarowe order. They're so pretty! She also included a sample of Lime Crime Magic Dust in Diva. The Magic Dusts are now discontinued, and Diva was a shade I had on my wishlist but never got round to buying. Nicola is so darn awesome!

On Friday I got a great big bottle of Seche Restore from beyondbeauty. I can't wait to fix my pile of thickened, gluggy polishes! Thanks Zoe for letting me know the big bottle was in stock!

Chanel Peridot

Finally, today I got two parcels from Trade Me sellers. Maybelline Styled Out for Annemarie, and L'Oreal Rebel Blue for me from one seller, and Chanel Peridot from another. I lucked out big time and got Peridot for $15!!! Amazing.

What did you get in the mail this week?

Shopping with Annemarie!

Purchased by me/Contains affiliate links

Hey lovelies,

Yesterday Annemarie (Gimikd Girl) and I headed to Queensgate mall in Lower Hutt to go treasure hunting. For two polish addicts, we were surprisingly restrained! Here's what I got:

I justified the Diva polish because A) I don't have any periwinkle creams and B) I haven't seen them blogged about before so I'm helping by giving this one a go and reporting back ;)

While we were browsing, I took sneaky pictures of our discoveries. Here is some spam for you:

Butter London clearance

Butter London on clearance at Farmers. I was hoping to find the Nail Foundation here, but no luck! I haven't checked the Cuba Street Farmers yet though.

A tired little boy after all that shopping!

I also bought some things I haven't pictured here: a few groceries, birthday presents for my MIL, donuts and a new bra :)

Have you been shopping lately?

Countessa Fluorescent

Purchased by me/Contains affiliate links

Hey lovelies,

Looking at yesterday's FOTD pic makes me want to run for my tube of YSL Touche Eclat. I need to start going to bed earlier!

Lime Crime Countessa Fluorescent lipstick FOTD

FACE
MAC Oh So Fair beauty powder

EYES
Sleek Oh So Special palette (matte brown in crease, shimmery brown all over lid and on lower lash line)
Dior Incognito (shimmery white to highlight)

LIPS
NYX Pinky (too dark for this lipstick, oops)

Application on Countessa Fluorescent was streakier than I remember. I'm still not sure if this colour suits me. Thoughts?

I wore Depend #069 yesterday, my middle fingernail broke on my left hand on an awkward angle, and the break is too low down to file straight :( So no swatching for me at the moment. Instead I'll work my way through a pile of polishes I can't decide whether to keep or purge - so they sit in limbo, waiting for me to wear them again and make up my mind. You can see #069 here - it's pretty boring, but the formula's great. All the same, I'm going to destash it.

Off to the shops with Annemarie today, I can't wait! Sinful Colors polishes have started popping up in NZ pharmacies, and they're at the Queensgate pharmacy apparently, so hopefully we'll find some treasures.
If I don't spend all my money on donuts first.
