Napoleon Perdis November Instyle Magazine Gift With Purchase - Swatches & Review

Hey lovelies,

As I mentioned in Friday's post, this month's Instyle magazine comes with a Napoleon Perdis make up set. Today I have a review and swatches to help you decide whether you want to hunt out a copy or not!

The set comes with a creme blush, a lipgloss and a mascara - all full size.

The mascara comes in glossy black tube with a spiralled bristle brush.

Lashes To Lashes mascara provides decent definition and lift for my lashes. I tested it over the course of a day and didn't have any trouble with flaking or black marks under my eyes at the end of the day, so I was very pleased with that! Removal is also very easy with regular make up remover.

The creme blush comes in a clear compact with a mirror, very handy!

The creme blush has a lovely soft, blendable texture. It has a satin finish, so you don't have to worry about oily looking cheeks.

Now for the lipgloss! It comes in a decent sized tube with a doefoot applicator. I've had problems with my tube; the stopper keeps coming out so now and then when I open it the wand has been completely suspended in the gloss and is literally dripping gloss. It's a bit of a nuisance, but these things happen - and it was free! Others I know who have picked up this set haven't had this problem.

The lipgloss is a sheer light peach with very subtle shimmer. I did find that it settled into lip lines a bit, as you can see, but this isn't noticeable at a normal viewing difference. The formula has a smooth formula with slight tackiness typical of most lipglosses - it's certainly not as sticky as MAC glosses, for example. The gloss has a sweet candy-like scent I can't quite place but seems familiar. Toffee apple maybe? I really must ask at a Napoleon counter sometime, it's been bugging me for years with my other Napoleon gloss that I can't place the scent!

Here's a FOTD I did over the weekend featuring all three products. You can find the full look here.

Two things I would have liked to see with this set - names for the blush and lipgloss, and for the items to be available for repurchase at the Napoleon counter. These items appear to have been manufactured specifically for the promotion, so if you really love one of these products unfortunately you won't be able to buy another - once it's gone, it's gone.

I'm really glad I picked up this set! I've been hunting out other copies of Instyle for friends over the past few days as they seem to be selling out quickly - if you like the look of this set, pop out and snag it quickly!

Thanks for stopping by!
