Hey lovelies,

Today I'd like to share reviews and swatches for some items I recently bought via Trade Me, and have been using for the last month.

First up we have the e.l.f. Essential Waterproof Eyeliner Pen. The felt tip is medium-fine in thickness, and is firm enough to do its job. The stray fibers you can see are not the fault of the pen, unfortunately my pen had a run in with Noel, who warped it a little. Despite this, it still works well, although creating very fine lines is a little trickier. But as I mentioned, that's not the pen's fault!

Opacity is so-so, it swatches very well on my hand as you can see, but I found it was drier in application on the lid, and not as black. I think you could build this up to be more opaque, but surprisingly I found myself liking the more subtle look it gave me at the first stroke. (For the curious, I'm wearing shades from Sleek's Oh So Special palette for this look.)

So, is it really waterproof? It sure is. I tested this while on holiday on Great Barrier Island, which meant it was subjected to lots of swimming and splashing at the beach. I did put my head under the water, although not for long periods, and didn't notice any smudging, running or fading on the several occasions I wore this at the beach. Pretty darn good for the $3NZD I paid.

Ruffian Red is a lovely matte red which was released in MAC's online exclusive Ruffian collection earlier this year. Unfortunately I believe it was limited to the States, so I was thrilled to find it on Trade Me, and coveted it for weeks before finally taking the plunge. MAC generally do lipsticks very well - it's what put them on the map, after all! - and this is no exception.

Ruffian Red pulls orange on me, which makes it a nice addition to my collection - I mostly have blue based reds. I've worn it a few times and it wore well without feathering. I absolutely love mattes for that quality! And isn't the packaging cute? Definitely recommend this lipstick if you can find it.

I bought both items from shezza108 on Trade Me, and found her to be super friendly and efficient. Both items were well packaged and arrived really quickly. She currently has some of the new lipsticks from MAC's Strength collection in stock (which I am lusting after, especially Absolute Power), along with quite a few items from MAC's permanent range and lots of goodies from ELF. Do check her out!
